Randy Reed, 62, of Shuqualak, MS passed away Friday, July 14, 2023, at North Miss Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. A funeral service will be held at Soul Harbor Pentecostal Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023. Visitation will be held at the church from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday. The interment is private and for the family only.  Memorials may be made to Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, 800 Avery Blvd, Suite 100, Ridgeland, MS  39157. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

James Randall Reed was born in Macon, MS on January 16, 1961, to James Lamar Reed and the late Margaret Robbins Reed. He was a lifetime resident of Shuqualak MS. In his youth, Randy won awards for sharp shooting.  Randy was a graduate of Central Academy, Class of 1979. During his high school years, he was a stand-out football player. Randy spent his life working in the lumber industry where he became known as the “Crane Man” to his co workers and friends. Randy had a reputation for being mechanically skilled and could fix anything. During his spare time, he was an avid hunter. Randy’s passion was turkey hunting, but he also enjoyed deer hunting as well.  In addition to his mother, Randy is preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Reed and grandson, Mikel Ladd.

Randy’s survivors include his father, Lamar Reed of Shuqualak, MS; a daughter, Bethany Reed of Macon, MS; two sons, Randall Reed and wife Lorin of Macon, MS and Kenny Reed of Shuqualak, MS; a brother, Ken Reed and wife Pam of Columbus, MS; five grandchildren, Riley Reed, Briggs Reed, Rhyne Pearson, Garet Pearson, and Miranda Reed.
