Polly C Bateman

Polly C. Bateman, 93, of Shuqualak, MS, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, at Noxubee General Hospital, Macon, MS. A graveside service is planned for Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Shuqualak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cockrell Funeral Home., P.O. Box 499, Macon, MS 39341 or call the office at 662-726-5431, to support the family with Mrs. Bateman’s final arrangements.

Polly Clevinger Bateman was born in Pea Patch, VA on October 1, 1931, to the late John Wesley and Mandy Jane Keen Clevinger. She was raised in Grundy, VA. and was a graduate Of Grundy High school. After high school, Polly began working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the fingerprint department. Later, she worked for the Federal Wildlife Association. She met and married William Thomas “Billy” Bateman and became a homemaker and a mother. In 1968, she and her husband moved to Shuqualak, MS., where they made their home. Polly enjoyed reading and flower gardening. She was a private person. Polly was loved by her family and will be sorely missed by her daughter and grandson. Polly is preceded by her parents, her husband and eleven siblings.

Polly is survived by her daughter, Carole Anne Turcotte of Shuqualak, grandson, William Turcotte (Madison), granddaughter, Hailey Elizabeth Turcotte and sister-in-law, Betty Higginbotham of Shuqualak, MS.
