Matthew David Moore

Matt Moore, 51, of Artesia, MS., passed away on August 16, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus, MS. A graveside service is planned for Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Moore Cemetery near Macon MS. at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Moore Cemetery c/o Bobby Cade, 1399 Beersheba Rd., Columbus MS 39702. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Matthew David Moore was born on July 29, 1975, to David Owen Moore and the late Sharon Frances Closs in Columbus, MS. Matt attended New Hope High School where enjoyed playing baseball. His first job was working as a carpenter for Caldwell Construction where he learned so many talents that carried him through his adult life. Growing up he enjoyed listening to music on the record player with his siblings. He had a love for going to the beach which began as young child. He longed to go back to the beach one more time before he passed. He loved his children and grandchildren for afar.

Matt is survived by his father, David Moore (Patsy) of Daphne, AL, daughters, Kelsee Moore, Sturgis, MS, Brooklyn Moore, Columbus, MS and Mackenzey Moore Bowen (Brade), Caledonia, MS; two sons, Dyllan Moore of Brandon, MS ,and Conner Hatley, MS; two sisters, Kristi Woolbright, Artesia, MS and Terri Moore, Vass, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Emerie Grace Moore, Ava Kate Moore, Ryland Howard, Rivers Howard, Rose Howard, Colsen Bowen, Carter Scarbrough, and Wynn Scarbrough.
