Marlin Ray Campbell, born July 22, 1961, son of Geraldine Rogers Campbell and the late J. L. Campbell. He lived a life rooted in hard work, humor, and deep devotion to those he held dear.

Marlin was born in Kirbyville, Texas, and spent his early years in Merryville, Louisiana, where he met the love of his life, Brenda Campbell. The two were married and began a lifelong journey together, building a family and a legacy of love. In 1984, they moved to Millport, Alabama, where they lived for 18 years before settling in Macon, Mississippi, where they spent their remaining years together.

A man of simple joys, Marlin loved his cows, big trucks, Harleys, and fast Mustangs. Known by his CB handle, “Agitator,” he carried that same playful spirit into everyday life. He spent the majority of his years working in the logging woods, a profession he truly enjoyed and proudly followed in his father’s footsteps. He had a quiet but unmistakable sense of humor and loved to aggravate his children and grandchildren, always bringing laughter to those around him. He also loved traveling to flea markets with his wife, whom he affectionately called “the Queen” every day.

Marlin was preceded in death by his beloved son, Gary Wayne Campbell; his father, J.L. Campbell; his brother, Gary Franklin Campbell; and his son-in-law, Adam Davis.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda Campbell, who loved him deeply and is heartbroken by his passing; his daughters, Tanya Blackledge and her husband, Doug Blackledge; Tabatha Lott; Angie Campbell; and Alisha Zismann and her husband, Bradley Zismann; his mother, Geraldine Campbell; and his sisters, Lisa Campbell and Darla Campbell.

He was a proud grandfather to Bryanna Clark, Kailyn Clark, Dylan Blackledge, Drake Blackledge, Layne Campbell, Logan Campbell, Konner Grassaree, Brendan Sudduth, Jacie Campbell, and Barrett Zismann—each of whom he made feel like his favorite—and a great-grandfather to four, with one more on the way.

Marlin dearly loved his church, Macon Pentecostal Church, and held a deep respect and affection for his pastor, Pastor Guy.

Marlin will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, his faith, and the quiet, steady presence he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the memories they will carry forever.

A note was found on his desk after his passing that read, “I have this great big big family that is filled with love and joy.”

Pallbearers will be Doug Blackledge, Bradley Zismann, Dylan Blackledge, Drake Blackledge, Brandon Clark, Brock Clark, Logan Campbell, Barrett Zismann, and Brendan Sudduth.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Layne Campbell
