Lynn Porter Blakeney

Lynn Porter Blakeney, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at the age of 67.

Lynn was born on March 10, 1959, to the late Frances May Boswell Blakeney and Hershel Herman Blakeney of Macon, MS. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

A 1977 graduate of Central Academy, Lynn went on to earn her BS degree in Education from Mississippi State University in 1981.

She is lovingly survived by her sister, Mary Frances Blakeney Brumfield, and her husband, Frank Swayze Brumfield; her nephews, Swayze Brumfield and his wife, Delilah, Blake Brumfield and his wife, Lindsey; and her niece, Lucy Brumfield.

A private family graveside service celebrating Lynn's life was be held on Saturday, August 8, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Macon, MS. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements
