Lydia Louise Schrock

Lydia “Louise” Knepp Schrock, of Macon, Mississippi, passed away on July 19, 2026, at Noxubee General Hospital. Funeral Services are planned for Friday, July 24, 2026, at Magnolia Mennonite Church,2600 Magnolia Drive, Macon, MS 39341, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the church from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Louise was born on December 8, 1935, in Plain City, Ohio, to Samuel R. Knepp and Martha Borntrager Knepp. At the age of twelve, Louise moved with her family to LaGrange, Indiana. On December 12, 1954, she married Lester Tobias Schrock, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned nearly six decades.

In 1963, Louise and Lester moved to Macon, Mississippi, where they helped build and support the family-owned Macon Ready-Mix Concrete Company. In 1968, Louise began working in the office, where she faithfully kept the books and handled dispatching duties. She continued in this role until her retirement on April 1, 1998.

Following retirement, Louise and Lester spent meaningful years traveling and serving with Mennonite Disaster Service. She especially loved cooking for volunteers and helping care for those working to rebuild communities after natural disasters. They often served away from home for months at a time, giving generously of their time and energy.

When at home, Louise found great joy in growing things and creating beauty in her yard and home. She was the primary caregiver for her mother for many years and was a faithful member of Magnolia Conservative Mennonite Church in Macon.

Louise is survived by her daughter-in-law, Miriam Graber Schrock of Taylorsville, Mississippi; her sons, James (Jim) Lavon Schrock (Margaret) of Crawford, Mississippi; Mark Leland Schrock (Marie) of Macon, Mississippi; Thomas (Tom) Linfred Schrock (Brenda) of Eureka, Illinois; her sister, Fern Troyer of Bristol, Indiana; and her foster son-in-law, Thurmond Montgomery of Indianapolis, Indiana. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, with three more currently on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; her son, Kenneth Lee Schrock; her brothers, Edwin Knepp, Ervin Knepp, Eli Knepp, John Knepp, and Wayne Knepp; her sister, Mary Ellen Knepp Schrock; her foster daughter, Melissa Montgomery of Indianapolis, Indiana; and her granddaughter, Angela Rose Schrock.

Louise will be remembered for her gracious hospitality, freely given with a true servant’s heart; her steady faith; her deep maternal love for her family; and her gentle, kindhearted way of caring for others—often through small, thoughtful gestures that made people feel seen and deeply loved.
