Mrs. Linda Boswell Grantham, 94, of Hattiesburg, MS, passed away in Hattiesburg, on May 30, 2026. A graveside service was held at Oddfellows Cemetery on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Bill Ross officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local humane society in Linda’s memory. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Linda was born on April 11, 1932, in Macon, MS to the late Vernon and Sinnie Boswell. Linda was raised in Macon, MS, where she was crowned to Homecoming Queen at Macon High School in 1950. She later graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and went on to make Hattiesburg her longtime home. Linda worked at USM for thirty-one years before retiring in 1994. She was a devoted member of the Hattiesburg Main Street Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. Her faith remained a guiding presence throughout her life.
Linda resided at Wesley Manor Retirement Home for twelve years and later at Brookdale Assisted Living until her passing. She had a great love for all animals, especially dogs and cats.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Dot Clearman, Josie Campbell Shaul, James Hunter Boswell, Libby Lanier, and Nina Allred.
Linda is survived by her nephews and niece; Tommy (Pat) Campbell, Wayne (Barbara) Lanier, Mark (Ann) Lanier, Jimmy (Gayla) Campbell, Carol Hansen, and Steve (Megan) Allred; as well as numerous other great nieces and nephews.
