Judith (Judy) Ann Huerkamp Therrell, 73, a former Noxubee County native who was currently living in Bay St. Louis, MS, died July 1, 2026. Judy had struggled with multiple sclerosis for over two decades but never gave up.
Judy was born on December 4, 1952, in Celina, OH, and moved to Mississippi with her family in 1963. She was a graduate of Central Academy in Macon in 1971. Judy had many job careers from insurance to the restaurant industry, even as a bartender, before moving to Bay St. Louis, MS. After living in Naples, FL, she fell in love with the water and the beach. In the attempt to get closer to family, Bay St. Louis fit that fondness for the water. She then worked in security and customer services at one of the casinos and as of late, as an IT contractor, just to name a few interesting ones.
Growing up on a dairy farm in Macon taught Judy to love and appreciate animals. Along with her brothers and sister, they had many pets, which she continued to have into her adulthood.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis Bernard and Mary Catherine Huerkamp, and sister, Jan Caroline Huerkamp. She is survived by brothers James Edward (Janet), Jeffery Joseph (Cathy), John Francis (Cindy), and Joseph Bernard (Cindy Kay), along with seven nephews and one niece, who grew up knowing Judy’s independent spirit. Now grandnieces and nephews have been added.
A funeral Mass will be conducted at a time and date to be announced. Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis, Corpus Christi Catholic Church of Macon, MS, or one’s local animal shelter.
