John was born on January 18, 1955, in Dover, Delaware, to the late David and Katie Mast. As a young man, John gave his life to Christ and faithfully nurtured his relationship with the Lord throughout his life.

In the spring of 1974, John moved to Tylertown, Mississippi. That same year, on November 2, he married the love of his life, Joanna Mast. Shortly thereafter, they settled in Macon, Mississippi, where John became a devoted member of Magnolia Mennonite Church.

John’s life was a powerful testimony to faith, perseverance, and trust in his Savior. In 2013, he overcame Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and in 2025, he survived a major stroke. Through every trial,John remained steadfast in his belief that the Lord would provide. He also treasured the fellowshipof his church family at Magnolia and found great joy in visiting with friends and loved ones.

John is survived by his loving wife, Joanna Faye Mast, and by his three sons: Jamie Mast, Justin (Mara) Mast, and Jolan Mast, as well as his cherished granddaughter, Chloe Mast.

He is also survived by ten siblings: Anna Marie Mast of Oregon; Benny (Leona) Mast of Ohio; Liz (Mike) Weirich of Oregon; Dorothy (Steve) Strite of Oklahoma; Sharon (Joe) Strite of Oklahoma; Alta (Galen) Kropf of Oregon; Laura (James) Graber of Indiana; Mervin (Katrina) Mast of Indiana; Elson (Oneta) Mast of Alaska; and Titus (Judy) Mast of Indiana.
