John Wayne Boykin, 51, of Brooksville, MS passed away at his residence WEdnesday, June 4, 2025. Graveside services are planned for Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Brooksville Cemetery, Brooksville, MS (weather permitting) alternate location will be at Cockrell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary gifts be made to Cockrell Funeral Home, P.O. Box 499, Macon, MS. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

John Wayne Boykin was born on November 8, 1973, in Oklahoma to the late Mary Janice and Louie Wayne Boykin. He graduated from Caldwell High School and continued his education at East Mississippi Community College.

John Wayne was formerly employed with NES Rentals in Columbus, Mississippi, where he earned several Chairman’s Circle Awards in recognition of his outstanding performance in outside sales.

A true outdoorsman at heart, John Wayne loved traveling, deer hunting, fishing, and cheering on Mississippi State football. One of the greatest joys of his life was his beloved dog, Manny, who was always by his side.

John Wayne was known for his passion, his easygoing spirit, and a smile that could light up any room. He didn’t take life too seriously and always found joy in the simple things—especially spending time at his lake home. He deeply loved his sisters and was fiercely protective of them throughout his life.

John Wayne will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and the laughter he brought to those who knew and loved him.

John Wayne is preceded in death by parents, three sisters, Janet Myers Redmond, Sandra “Cissy” Myers Adair and Tina Boykin Ivy.

John Wayne is survived by one sister, Pam Boykin Frazier, one brother-in-law, Jason Redmond, three nieces, Maegan Ivy Pierce (Kale), Lauren Ivy Garrard (Patrick) and Jamie Redmond, three nephews, Jason Redmond Jr. (Courtney), Brandon Frazier (Anna) and Tyler Frazier. As well as a host on uncles, aunts and cousins.
