Jimmye Jernigan Skipper

Mrs. Jimmye  Jernigan Skipper, 86, of Austin, TX., passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 in Austin, TX. A graveside service is planned for Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Oddfellows Cemetery in Macon, MS at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 10:00 -10:45 a.m. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Jimmye Skipper passed away peacefully in Austin, Texas on May 30, 2024, of natural causes. She was born November 26, 1937, to James and Thelma Jernigan in Shuqualak, Mississippi. She attended elementary and high school in Macon and later graduated from Mississippi University for Women. Jimmye married Kimble Skipper in August 1959. Over the years, they lived in New Orleans and Houston, eventually returning to Macon. Jimmye started her career as a schoolteacher and later became a residential real estate broker. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson Kyle, reading, cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother. She is survived by her son, Ron Skipper, daughter-in-law, Judy Skipper, and grandson, Kyle Skipper.
