James “Jimmy” Whittle, 67, of Cedar Bluff, MS passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center, West Point, MS. Funeral services are planned for Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home, Macon, MS. Interment will follow in Soul Chapel Cemetery, Macon, MS. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, from 1 p.m. until service time. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
James Oliver Whittle was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 16, 1958, to the late Sam and Edna Rainey Whittle. He grew up in Noxubee County, MS and graduated from Central Academy where he was an outstanding football player. After graduation, he went to work at Noxubee Feed Company for many years. Later, Jimmy worked at Macon Brick Company in the maintenance department. Jimmy moved to West Point MS and took a job with Bryan Foods and retired after many years of service. Jimmy was work -a -holic and did not enjoy staying at home so he went to work at Ormans Welding and then later for ND Defense where his remained until his sudden death. Jimmy was known to his family as a hard worker always providing his family’s needs. He love to listen to music, welding, working outside, and gardening. Jimmy enjoyed deer hunting in his early years. Jimmy was all about his family and will be sorely missed. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and brother Louis Whittle.
Jimmy’s survivors include his beloved wife of forty-one years, Marie Whittle of Cedar Bluff, MS., a daughter, Shanna Robertson and Misty (Shane) Bolden, all of West Point, MS and son, Tim King of Cedar Bluff, MS; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
