Helen Stapleton Richardson, 70, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. A funeral service will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Mashulaville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Helen Elizabeth Richardson was born on November 10, 1955, to the late Frank Marion and Mary Alice Patterson Stapleton in Jacksonville, FL. She and her family lived in Jacksonville until Helen was seven years old when her family moved back to Macon, MS where they made their home. Helen was a graduate of Central Academy. After graduation, Helen went to work as a butcher at Piggly Wiggly where she worked for many years. In 1978, Helen married Claude Richardson. In 1997, she began her career at Macon Primary Clinic as a phlebotomist and worked in this position until she retired in 2019. Helen was loved by all that knew her. In her pastime she enjoyed crocheting and crafting. Helen’s favorite title was Me Maw to her beloved grandchildren and great grandchild. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Doug Stapleton and stepfather, Ted Crabtree.
Helen’s survivors include her husband, Claude Richardson of Louisville, MS; two daughters, Beth Curvin (Tommy) of Kodak, TN., and Amber Richardson of Louisville, MS; sister, Christine Mullens of Baldwyn, MS; stepsister, Diane Tiffin of Macon, MS; brother Randy Stapleton (Debbie) of Macon, MS,; stepbrother, Rusty Crabtree (Kathy) of Vancleave, MS; four grandchildren, Ocean Curvin (Carrie), Zoie Montero Nunez, Rachel Moorehead, and Nathan Moorehead; and one great grandson, Skip Curvin.
