Elizabeth “Layne” Reed Johnson, 30, formerly of Shuqualak, MS passed away at her residence in Etta, MS on Friday, September 19, 2025, A funeral service is planned for Monday, September 22,2025 at Soul Harbor Pentecostal Church, 4686 Residence St., Shuqualak, MS 39361, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be Butler Cemetery, Shuqualak, MS. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorials to Bank First of Macon, MS c/o Emma West. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the service arrangements.

Elizabeth Arlayne Reed was born on September 8, 1995, to Scotty and Miriam Cooper Reed in Columbus, MS. Elizabeth grew up in Shuqualak, MS and attended Central Academy in Macon, MS. Growing up, Elizabeth loved playing softball and basketball as well as fishing and riding the back roads with her daddy. She enjoyed horseback riding after her uncle Mike and aunt Jean taught her how to ride and another favorite past-time with them was going shopping. Elizabeth could do whatever she put her mind to do and was a natural at anything she attempted. She was a wonderful Mom and stepmother, and she loved to celebrate all her children’s milestones. Elizabeth loved her family, her nephews and niece, friends and music. Her uncle nicknamed her Elvis, and she always thought that Elvis was still alive. Elizabeth’s most cherished memory was eating bologna with her Paw-Paw Earl.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father, Scotty Reed, maternal grandfather, Earl Cooper, paternal grandmother, Mary Anna Reed, and Aunt Gina Cooper.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Chris Johnson, mother, Miriam Cooper, three daughters, Carter Dale Johnson, Scottlynn Grace Johnson, and Emma Leigh Johnson; two stepchildren, Ally and Kendall Johnson; sister, Emma (Johnny) West, maternal grandmother, Kathy Cooper, paternal grandfather, Earl Reed, nephews, Brody, John Parker, and Hayes West and niece Charleigh Kate West; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
