Mrs. Elizabeth “Inez” Hines, 88, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 at her son’s residence in Columbus, MS. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 3:OO p.m. at Brooksville Cemetery with Rev. Jearl Hunley officiating. Visitation will be held at Cockrell Funeral Home Wednesday from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m.  Memorials may be made to Brooksville Cemetery, c/o Melanie Hines, 586 Hines Rd., Brooksville  MS  39739.  Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Elizabeth Inez Joyner was born on March 28, 1934 in Meridian, MS to the late Lavelle and Gladys McAdory Joyner. She was a graduate of Center Hill High School in Lauderdale County and later of East Mississippi Junior College in Scooba, MS. On August 28, 1953, Inez married John Hines and moved to his hometown of Brooksville, MS. She and her husband lived a simple, hard-working life as they raised their children. Inez was a homemaker but she also enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and preparing it’s bounty for her family. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. She loved being with her family and helping to raise her grandchildren. Inez was a member of Brooksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church until it closed.

Inez Hines is survived by her daughter: Brenda Sennett of Brooksville and her two sons: John Hines, Jr (Malessa) of Brooksville and Leon Hines (Beth) of Columbus, MS. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son: David Hines; two brothers: Alton and Gene Joyner and by her son-in-law: Doug Sennett.
