Edna Barlow Bounds

Mrs. Edna Barlow Bounds, 82, of Shuqualak, MS., went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 9, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. Funeral services are planned for Monday, January 12, 2026, at Shuqualak Baptist Church, 7110 Line St. Shuqualak, MS., at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private and for the family only in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Baptist Childrens Village, P.O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.

Edna Barlow Bounds was born on June 28, 1943, in Louisiana to the late Thompson and Lille Mae Hendrick Barlow. Edna was a faithful and loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, a licensed beautician and a customer service representative at McRae’s. She and her husband of sixty years enjoyed traveling all over the world. Places they visited include the Great Smokey Mountains, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, the Grand Canyon, Italy, and the Holy Land. Some of their visits included camping in the back of their truck with tents as they traveling up the West Coast. Edna was a longtime member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS from 1966 until 2012. She and her husband moved to Shuqualak, MS into his home place and Edna became a member of Shuqualak Baptist Church. Edna was a wonderful cook and enjoyed reading her Bible, word search and gardening. Edna is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Louis Anderson Bounds, Jr., and her grandson Lewis E. (Trey) Rickman.

Edna is survived by her husband, Dr. Louis Andy Bounds of Shuqulak, MS; two daughters, Charlotte (Rick) Rickman and Rebecca (Ben) Jones; two grandchildren, Tyler Jones and Carson Rickman; four great grandchildren; five sisters, Charlotte Farthling, Emma Lee, Dorothy, Mary Jane (Jerry), and Patsy (Smitty) Burks.
