Mrs. Carolyn Coker Higginbotham, 79, of Macon, MS, passed away at her son’s residence in Philadelphia, MS on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Shuqualak Baptist Church in Shuqualak, MS. Interment will be in Shuqualak Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 10-11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Carolyn was born on May 15, 1946, to the late Floyd Collins Coker and Syble Lois White Coker in Porterville, MS in Kemper County. Carolyn lived there until she was eight years old, then she moved to Shuqualak, MS in Noxubee County. Carolyn graduated from Noxubee County High School in 1964. She had two wonderful boys, Roy and Robbie Hall. Carolyn worked at Macon Pants Factory for two years, then she went to work at Best Manufacturing in Shuqualak for thirty years before it closed. She worked for OTI for seven years and then she went to work for Tem’s Food Market for fourteen years. When Carolyn retired, she was manager of the Deli. After retirement, Carolyn had more time to spend with God, her family, her flower garden and in her yard with her quail and chickens. Carolyn was a lifelong member of Shuqualak Baptist Church. Carolyn was strong-willed and kind-hearted, always putting others before herself. Even while facing her own health challenges, she remained dedicated to caring for those around her.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry Higginbotham, her brother, Larry Wayne Coker, two sisters, Brenda Jane Coker and Glenda Jane Coleman, and one grandson Hunter Hall.
Carolyn survivors include her sons, Roy Hall (Blanca) of Louisville, MS and Robbie Hall (Denise) Philadelphia, MS ; one brother, Neal Coker (Donna) of West Point, MS; and one sister, Shirley Boykin (Bob) of Brooksville, MS; three grandchildren: Kyrstin (Cody) of Louisville, MS); Kayla (Jesse) of Nanih Waiya, MS; and Paige(Tyson) of Starkville, MS, nine great-grandchildren: Hunter, Cassie, Bailegh, Killian, Aria, Avery, Alexis, Zyair, and Kylan; two bonus grandchildren and their families, Austin and Eve Thornton Reagan and Tyler Anderson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
