Mrs. Annice Riddell Chancellor Howard, 97, of Macon, MS died at her home Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
A graduate of MSCW, Annice was an active member of First Baptist Church and involved in community activities. She was associated with W.P. Chancellors and Sons, the family business of her first husband, Julian Wood Chancellor, whom she married in 1952. Annice was also the owner of Antiques and Collectibles in Macon. Mr. Chancellor died in 1970, and in 1979, she married Lee Jackson Howard. Her preceded her in death, as did her parents, sister, Alice Riddell Hart and Jane Riddell Lewis, daughter, Annice Riddell Chancellor, Jack’s son, Thomas Andrew Howard and great-granddaughter, Emily Lynn Chancellor.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her sister, Aleene Riddell Walters of Jackson, MS., sons, Julian Wood Chancellor, Jr. (Lori) of Brooksville, MS., William Prentiss Chancellor (Sue) of Macon, MS., nephew, William Lloyd Chancellor (Kathy) of Nashville, TN, the Howard family; Esther Moore Howard, Lee Jackson Howard (Mary) all of Starkville, MS., fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is planned for Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 110 Lawrence St., Macon, MS. Interment will follow in the Chancellor Family Lot at Oddfellows Cemetery, Macon, MS. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 9-11 a.m. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 510, Macon, MS 39341 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 39105. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
