Mr. John C. “Hooker” McArthur, 90, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon, MS
The funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. from Cockrell Funeral Home. Interment will be in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Academy, P.O. Box 231, Macon, Ms 39341.
John C. “Hooker” McArthur was born in Mashulaville, MS. on August 1, 1925 to the late John C. and Maggie Dempsey McArthur. He was a graduate of Mashulaville High School and East Miss Junior College and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was married to the former Evelyn Hill. He worked for Noxubee County Co Op but retired from the Meridian Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He was preceded in death by his sister: Earline Dobbins; brother: Harvey McArthur; and daughter in law: Stephanie Sudduth McArthur.
Mr. McArthur is survived by his spouse: Evelyn Hill McArthur; children: Judy Vernon and husband Moses, John C. McArthur, III and Sandy Rawlings and husband Jeff;
grandchildren, Dee Perkins (Charlie), Lee Dugan (James), William Vernon, Courtney Wilson (Brooks), Johnathan
McArthur (Beth), Kelly Rawlings Edwards (Andrew), Alec Rawlings and Sean Rawlings, and 13 great grandchildren.
