Charles Davis Russell, 66, of Shuqualak, MS passed away Wednesday August 3, 2011 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at Mashulaville Cemetery on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. There will be a visitation for family and friends on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, MS. Memorials may be made to any charity that benefits the deaf. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon, MS is entrusted with the arrangements.
Charles Russell was born in Pleasant Ridge, Alabama on Nov. 3, 1939 to the late Jodi Estes and Ennice Williams Russell. He served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery. He was a craftsman who worked in construction as a master carpenter all over the United States. He had lived in the Butler Community near Shuqualak for many years. He was married to the former Lurline Dorman for 45 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Russell was a very strong man who was admired by many people. He taught his children a lot about life. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers: Lawrence and W.B. Russell.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife: Lurline Dorman Russell of Shuqualak; four daughters: Elizabeth Ann Storey of Philadelphia, MS, Sonja Gail Parker of Preston, MS, Lashawn Renee Jones of Munford, TN, and Shirley Marie Goss of Atoka, TN. He is also survived by one sister: Joanne Abston of Benevola, Ala, and by one brother: James Russell of Wahalak, MS. Also left to mourn his passing are 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
