Mrs. Sallie Card Kirkland, 74, passed away at her residence near Shuqualak on Tuesday, December 21. Her funeral service will be held Friday, December 24, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. from Butler Pentecostal Church with Bro. Allen Eaves and Bro. Gerald Butler officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mashulaville Cemetery near Macon, MS. A visitation for friends and family will be held Thursday , December 23, from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Butler Pentecostal Church. Memorials may be made to Butler Pentecostal Church Building Fund % Mrs. Clytee Lowery 6132 Butler Road Macon, MS 39341. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is entrusted with directing the services.
Mrs. Kirkland was born on November 15, 1936 in Shuqualak, MS. to the late Thomas Johnson and Vera Mae Prysock. She grew up there and attended the local school. She was married to Frances Kirkland of Mashulaville, MS, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Butler Pentecostal Church. She was a factory worker and had also worked as a waitress. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening.
She leaves behind two daughters: Mrs. Elsie Wilkerson of Philadelphia, MS and Mrs. Angela Jones of Shuqualak, MS as well as two sons: Jewel Kirkland of Peoria. Ill. and Jimmy Kirkland of Long Beach, CA. Also left to grieve her passing are two sisters: Erlene Misso of Wahalak, MS and Ruth Stone of Wiggins, MS. and two brothers: Lawrence Card of Shuqualak, MS. and Bo Prysock of Wiggins, MS. She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
